LCHA Bantam A Spring Season Coaching Staff and Team Information

As a team and individuals we must have:

  • Pride (the good feeling arising from association with something good)
  • Determination (unwavering in direction)
  • Commitment (a pledge and promise of inolvement)

And be willing to expend the Effort (something done through hard work) necessary to accomplish our goals and be successful.

Objectives

  • Having fun and enjoying the sport
  • Teaching each player the meaning and value of teamwork, discipline, preparation, and accountability to themselves and their teammates. Use the game as a framework for learning these lessons.
  • Showing excellent sportsmanship at all times.
  • Developing all players on the team.
  • Developing individual hockey skills and teaching basic hockey systems and team concepts.

Coaching Philosophy

  • Priorities: (1) Family, (2) School, (3) hockey
  • Team and individual discipline is important
  • Players should develop their skills and enjoy the sport
  • Skating, teamwork, positioning, passing, defense, and offense are the keys to a successful team.
  • Perfect practice makes perfect. Maximum effort is worth millions.
  • Checking is part of the game but not THE game.
  • Fighting is NOT part of the game.
  • Referees do not cause a team to win or lose.
  • Everyone will be given the opportunity to play in all situations. As the season progresses, power play and penalty kill units may be developed.
  • Mistakes are part of the learning process. The only bad mistake is the one resulting from a lack of effort.
  • If a player is being disciplined, they will be told why alond with the correct alternative.
  • Questions from players and parents are important and will always be answered. If you are angry, please wait 24 hours prior to discussing your concerns with the coaching staff.

It is important that both the coaches and parents are giving the same direction to our players. If you have any questions on philosophy or instruction, please ask the coaching staff before instructing your player.
